CHAMOMILE’S BENEFITS AND PROPERTIES

The herb has been used for an infinite number of ailments over the course of history, including lowering fever, healing the skin, soothing headaches and period pains, as well as promoting calm and a stable digestive system. What are chamomile’s key benefits? What can it be used for?

At present, chamomile has become a commonly used product in teas, therapeutic wraps and facemasks, as well as essential oils. It’s key benefits include:

- Reducing mild stomach pains: One of the best-known effects of the chamomile plant is its ability to provide soothing properties to the digestive system, given that it relaxes the stomach walls, boosts intestinal flora and helps reduce stomach swelling, especially when drunk with anise. It’s very useful for treating gastrointestinal issues like flatulence, indigestion, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

-Promotes rest and sleep: Chamomile herbal teas calm the nerves and sooth the nervous system, meaning they help us sleep better. They are totally caffeine free, which allows for achieving good rest when drunk before bed, especially when blended with the herbs used in our Camomilla Golden.

- Soothes and reduces anxiety. It helps calm the nervous system and reduce anxiety. We often lead very stressful lives that make it difficult to relax our bodies and minds at the end of a long day. Drinking a chamomile herbal tea at night provides a soothing relaxant, as well as a natural sedative that can help bring down that everyday stress.

- Reduces stress. As with anxiety, one of the key benefits of chamomile is it’s activation of the parasympathetic system, responsible for our state of rest and relaxation after physical activity or our body takes care of vital functions like digestion. Thanks to this effect, it helps reduce stress. If we get home and find that we are stressed out or are suffering from a horrible cold, a hot cup of chamomile (for example, chamomile with lemon) calms and sooths us as if it were a medicine, while also giving us the chance to enjoy its wonderfully floral aroma.
